One thing was for sure, it was bloody cold last night.. and of all nights in recent days, I didn’t equip the long-johns and decided to wear a k-way pullover instead of my goose.
Freezing cold. Ugh
I originally had plans to attend quite a few different exhibits around the city, but when you realize how far apart each one is and have to decide on a few to visit at most. So given that, my good friend Joe was already planning to head down there to check out his friend’s live project.. so I asked him if it was cool if I just tagged along.
We got down to the spot (Bloor and Landsdowne) and there was a few things going on that were interesting.. and me, a big fan of graffiti art was instantly drawn to some live graffiti work going on across the street

After watching them do their thing outside for a bit, we headed inside to see what was going on in there. From when you see a 19+ sign on the door that warns you that some of the stuff you’re about to see may be offensive, you know you’re in for some different art

Just imagine some of your childhood toys, stripped of all their innocence and completely revamped to create the most offensive display of art.

Just the beginning

And a very interesting collage of toys on the wall in the corner

And that concluded Funktion Gallery — aka one sadistic toys r us. Across the street there was some more graffiti going on, with 3 artists all working on one piece

Wish I could have stayed or returned later in the night to see the final piece, cause it was looking real good. And not too far from there, Joe’s buddy Joel Richardson and a few of his people were setting up their spot, and I was curious to see exactly how it was going to pan out

Basically he was taking people’s photos as they passed through, and then would print them out and place them on this wall. After placing your face on the wall, he would draw his signature halo around your head and continue his montage. By the time we left him the first time he had maybe no more than 10 people up, so I again am curious to see how this piece turns out.
We did go and check out The Distillery, and there was a good bunch of things going on over there. So after a $30 parking ticket and a few ‘different’ performances, we decided it was time to just head home.
