The last movie I saw in the the­aters was Avatar, and that expe­ri­ence had me won­der­ing how I’m ever going to appre­ci­ate movies again with it’s IMAX 3D expe­ri­ence.  So for the last few weeks, Mikey was harp­ing on this Shut­ter Island busi­ness, so I fig­ured I’d go see what it was all about

Weather still kind of sucked last night get­ting there, but glad I got there safe still. I was ready­ing myself to see another long one, cause some­one men­tioned it was a lengthy movie..

Shut­ter Island

I would clas­sify this movie as a drama sus­pense thriller type of movie.  It did take a while for the plot to thicken, which con­cerned me at first, but then it started get­ting more inter­est­ing.  It’s hard to even speak on the movie with­out giv­ing any­thing away, so I really don’t even know what to write about It’s just one of those movies you have to go see.

I’m still a bit on the fence as to whether or not this movie is the­ater wor­thy or more the rental type.  But don’t get me wrong, it was a good movie and maybe I could just blame Avatar for over­shad­ow­ing it just that much.

Most times, the peo­ple that inspire us are peo­ple that we have never even come in con­tact with phys­i­cally but have just admired their work from a dis­tance.  Through­out my own per­sonal work, I have been blessed to meet some great tal­ented peo­ple who truly embody what an artist is.  Hans Poppe def­i­nitely falls into this cat­e­gory, and today he sur­prised me with one of his pieces, and the ORIGINAL at that!  Very hon­ored, and am hum­bled by his tal­ents, greatly.

We once again chopped it up (long eh?) in front of Fairview for a good while, and when he starts going on about art, all you could do is lis­ten.  And at one point, while speak­ing of Van Gogh, he said “It’s like lis­ten­ing to music, with your eyes” bam bam!

And now, my new baby

can’t wait to get it framed.
